FLIPPER- Sex Bomb, c/w Brainwash 7″ (Subterranean Records, USA, 1981)

Early FLIPPER: Pure musical cynicism, minimalistic, razor sharp and relentless. Hard drugs do not only destroy peoples lifes.
The b-side will drive you insane, if you’re not already. The singer is struggling with words, attempting to explain something, then ends abruptly. Again and again, 12 times and it never stops, as it ends in a locked groove (which I led play for a while before slowly fading out).
“One must imagine Sisyphus happy.” (Albert Camus)

Great site! I only wonder: Why does everybody have a red vinyl copy?

The first pressing was done on red vinyl with unique sleeves for each copy. Subsequent pressings were on black vinyl with the standard sleeve shown above in this post.

Thanks for the information. I’ve never seen a red vinyl copy before, yet was under the impression that the sleeve of my copy was unique. Ha!

You ARE the sex bomb. When I heard Brainwashed on the swedish radio in the early 80s I was not blown away but rather distressed and curious what on earth this band was all about. Never cared that much for Flipper though I wish did.

I can’t flippin’ believe this. I heard this song in 1991. Listened to it multiple times while staying with a buddy for a few weeks. Completely forgot about it for the next ten years. Around 2001, someone mentions the band Flipper. Brings back a memory of a mesmerizing start-stop-start song. Ten years of occasional searches for the song bears no fruit. Tonight, while following a UXA thread, I … nevermind.
