With 666 posts, Goodbadmusic has become a bit confusing and especially older posts never got the attention the bands deserve. Remember to legally purchase whatever you have downloaded and like. See it as support or as an act of appreciation.
The BREAKOUTS’ third and final release is still extremely underappreciated. A shame. Power, urgency, intelligence, originality and a great overall sense of seriousness and depth makes this one of 1983 essentials.
Why this has never been re-released, I don’t know. One of the best Hardcore Punk records ever released. Period. Find the BREAKOUTS first 7″ here and the 2nd 7″ here. Ripped with love. Forget all the other shit ass quality rips on crap blogs all over. Enjoy fuckers.

That’d be great if you could repost the 2nd 7″. Never liked the first one and never heard the 2nd one but the 12″ has followed me the past 25 years. Saw them play in Frisco once with the DKs and REBEL TRUTH among others and I can say the BREAKOUTS blew every other band off the stage that night. I still have the live tape somewhere (a friend of mine recorded it through the soundboard). I will supply it to you if you want so you can rip and post it. It contains many unreleased songs and the quality is stunning. Drop me a line.

I saw this band a few times in ’84 and really enjoyed them. the singer who i think played either guitar or bass had a tall mohawk. The crowd didn’t get into them and i don’t know why cause i thought they were power driven punk as fuck!

Well, I belong to those who spend all their money on ebay. I won’t necessarily pay ultra high pay prices for single items (some exceptions), but that is ONLY due to the fact that I’m not very rich. If I had the money I wouldn’t care. I could never just listen to downloaded music, without having the actual vinyl, the cover, the whole thing as it was. Unthinkable.

Um, I think it’s called record collecting?? It’s just a hobby, you know, for fun. See, there are groups of people and sometimes they want the same thing. When the thing is scarce, which punk records are by their very nature due to small pressings, the prices go up as with anything people collect. If someone tells you that high $$ and punk music are ideologically opposed, you should respond by telling them that they should give you their Deep Wound 7″ for free then. My guess is that they’ll tell you to go fuck yourself. I say everyone should continue paying whatever they think a record is worth and then providing it for free to the rest of the world. Even the ingrates I suppose. If they ever bothered to take the time to rip a record, scan in the covers, and do a nice write up they would realize they were getting a pretty sweet deal.

I feel misunderstood! I did not say any thing against spending many dollars for records. That’s fine! I find it amusing that Peter buys so many very expensive records only to post them on his blog. I think that’s that is the main diffrence between GBM and KBD. Erich writes with passion and knowledge. Peter just displays rare stuff(which often totally sucks but thats just my taste). “…just displays rare stuff…” for the reason of showing off? If that was so I would post all my rare stuff from the 80s HC scene, right? Sorry but showing off is not the reason at all. The reason for me is to make rare and great music(you´re in the minority Staffan, sorry) available for people to hear. Since I´ve been buying so much stuff during the years from 1977 and onward I have a vast amount of records to sell which gives me money to buy records I want instead. It´s a different kind of trading.
I could post many records that are not rare but kicks ass. But that is for others to do.
When it comes to writing. The records are often new to me and hence I don´t know a shit about the bands. And I´ve said many times on my blog: I´m not a reviewer never will be and don´t strive to be. My verbal ability to describe music is very limited: this is awesome or this sucks so many german slime balls it´s not even funny.
If you have a problem with the KBD blog DON´T FUCKING GO THERE! Are you stupid?
And in the end what exactly are you trying to accomplish? And last but not the least what have you done??

Nice thing you got going on this one Erich. You get these every once in a while, I guess we all do. Criticism, name calling, ignorance. A true reflextion of the world. Thought this was taken care of in comment # 13, but oh well. I for one am truely grateful for what guys like you and Peter do. Justin: Didn’t Peter post UW not to long ago?
Anybody knows whether the first and 2nd DRI 7″ have been remixed on all the official reissues? I know there was one DRI reissue LP containg them two (with a horrible full colored cover, using a drawing from the 2nd 7″ insert; it’s on Metal Blade or Roadrunner) – this had remixed versions with down turned guitar and added bass. Is there a need for the original mixes?

Erich, you’re right Peter did do a the UW post but he killed the links to the tunes back then because they came out with a reissue. He actually has a nice record store story in that post. You and I had spoken about it after my Ill Repute post and my claim that Land Of No Toilets was one of the best hardcore 7″s ever. You wrote something that I thought profound, “About “best recordâ€: To me, a “best record†is always the best until it isn’t. It has a lot to do with passion and enthusiasm and moments.” Then you and a certain German fellow blogger got into a verbal tussle that started with the quality of the original 7″ vs. the 12″ reissue. Then you guys started writting in German and I didn’t know what the fuck was going on. So lost in all that, Justin never got to hear the original UW 7″. I guess we will move on now though because you are now talking about the original mix of the DRI 7″, which I would love to hear.

The Breakouts were such a great band! This 12″EP has really grown on me over the years. Sorry Erich, but my favorite Breakouts record is the 1st single “In Vagueness Deal”. It is very charming to me since it’ so sloppy. That 1st 7″ and this “No More” 12″EP are like worlds apart in terms of “musicianship” but but great records.
I have a copy of an unreleased 8-song Breakouts CD that was recorded in 1995 that I need to post on my blog when I have some time. It’s pretty good. I remember getting a copy in 1996 and thinking, “Oh, I need to keep this under wraps since maybe they’ll release it soon”. Twelve years later, I still never heard that it officially came out…. er, thus justifying it to be posted on a blog.
