I was on a total MORBID ANGEL roll today. In order to make the readers, downloaders and Death Metal enthusiasts happy (and to stimulate your impulse to donate – use the paypal button on the left!), here’s a little treat you’ve never heard before. A one track instrumental demo of a song that was tentatively entitled “Bleed for the Devil” and recorded in November 1986.
I asked Trey how we would feel about a possible release on a label I wanted to start. He was very enthusiastic and had his band record this little thing especially for me. You can guess how flattered I was. At the time, MORBID ANGEL was still totally obscure and Death Metal in its most exciting phase.
Rude, brutal, highly energetic – no triggers, no bullshit. The way it should be.

You guys keep surprising me. I actually was expecting some kind of “wow great you rock etc.” feedback here. Ha.

well, you don’t. that’s why. still, it’s awfully quiet here. what’s wrong with people?

wow!? i was like: jesus f christ, morbid bloody angel now. after series of posts with third world hard core content!!! my ears bleed. i suffer. but why? i’ll be patiently waiting for hard & heavy or punk rock stuff.

the band formerly known as morbid angel should have listened to this (instead of rob zombie) before recording their new album.

where’s the “like” button? Hahaha…facebook is killing the concept of a blog…how can you compete with stupid little games, having hundreds of “friends” being bombarded with a collage of images and thoughts, none of which is deeper than a puddle of water. How long will it take for this one of a kind tune to make it to utube for someone to share on facebook? What do I know, I complained when the compact disc was presented as the wave of the future. Thanx for giving us this gem.

just wanted to say how proud I am having being able to meet you in person and all. you’re a living legend in extreme music (I know you don’t like this but it’s true). in all these years you have not sold out. your love for music is true and inspiring. and now that I met you I know that you’re also a very gentle and incredibly charming man.

I can’t believe this is from May 1986. I visited MA in June of 1986 and after the rehearsal room they played for us, we were invited to Trey’s home (he lived with his parents). He gave us the advance tape of the lp they had just recorded and the official live tape and that was all he had at the time.

PS: Metal Archives is not what I would call a reliable source. Just checked out the MA discography: They don’t even mention the official cassette. And that’s just one of hundreds of mistakes I’ve seen there. No wonder when every 21 years old internet nerd can supply “information”.

PPS: Haha, just downloaded the link and guess what – the “demo” is actually my own walkman recording from June 1986, haha. Fuck the kids.

I agree about MA, I hope you didnt take it that that I was questioning you at all. I know that place is full of tons of mistakes.
I was in Impaler, and it has (or had) a bunch of fake demos listed for us too-
I blame the dumb kids for adding the wrong info, but i also blame all us old tape traders for making these type of “demos”
I knew this was a fake demo and if i sent it , you could straighten out what it was. I know there is another fake demo floating around that contains a bunch of Rehs (including the Nov 1 song)
BTW, didnt you correspond with Bill (from Impaler) back in the day ?

Hi Strad – I’m not sure if I was in touch with Impaler. It doesn’t ring a bell, to be honest. Is there any way I can hear your demos? Would be much interested.
[Reply]
heres a link to the demos I posted at a blog I belong to
http://lockjaw-yappy.blogspot.com/2009/03/impaler-us-mn-demos.html
Implaer was always more popular with the punks/hardcore scene (especially in Minneapolis) than the metalheads, so I thought maybe you might have done an interview or contacted Bill back then. Bob Mould produced the 1st Lp- I moved from doing the flash pots and tuning Mike guitars to playing guitar after that.
there is more Impaler posted there if you are interested ( all the cds, some live stuff, and related bands)-
The band is still active

Silly me – I had the “If we had Brains” LP, but I obviously sold or traded it at some point, unfortunately. I checked out your links and then I knew. I must take some time and check out the stuff – thanks a lot!

Thanks for posting this. I can’t stop listening – again and again. It’s traumatizingly beautiful.
