OVERKILL- s/t 7″EP (SST, USA, 1982)

Repost from August 12th 2006. One of the rarest SST releases and the best band by the name of OVERKILL ever. Amazing!
New scans and new rips added. Not much needs to be said here, so I leave it as it was.

File under “Seen many times in the 2nd hand bin, never listened to”. This 1982 release is a major killer, 4 tracks, no filler!

PS: Apparantly, there’s a documentary movie about SST Records coming. Very much looking forward for this.

That’s a surprise! seen this many many times as you said. is “triumph of the will” (sst lp from ca. 85) the same bands release? always wondered about that one with its strange cover and title (sounds like a nazi band).

I’ve heard “Hell’s Getting Hotter” somewhere before?!?

I swear someone covered the track…it will come to me sometime.

    THanks for the great site!

Was the Blasting Concept version of this song different than this EP version?

I think this is why I vaguely remember this song.

    It’s the same version, actually.

Yepp, “TOTW” (sst 1985 LP) was the the same band. a strange record!

well, you are right Admin. Overkill LA post is here. however, only 2 tracks from a major killer of SST metalpunk (forever out of print) is … somewhat cruel. vintage Carducci SST rules as much as vintage Overkill.

Crazy-ass Merrill Ward was the singer. He was in Nig-Hiest and once even subbed incognito for Keith Morris at the Black Flag “original singers” reunion show in ’83 or so. Here he is now: http://eqtvconnect.ning.com/profile/MerrillWard

Shit, I passed this one and the LP up lots of times. Picked up the LP a couple of years ago. Now I need the 7″. Real nice mid-paced chainsaw punk rock. Good music to fuck to.

I take great pride in the (assumed) fact that nobody on this planet ever had sex to Fear Of God!

Assumed is correct my friend I’ve had Fear of God and SPK’s Auto da Fe on during the act…you might say it helps you define it as love or just a fuck. It helps when you have small feet.

Justin, can you PROVE that? I don’t believe a word!

The entire act was done during Two Sides of the Coin (the live version). ;-)

  13. this documentary movie about sst is – if you mean maybe this one – out: http://www.ahistorylesson.com

or is there another one planed?

there is also a book about sst aptly tilted “the blasting concept” in da works, so far just the whole effort is just amazing:

    more sst nerdness:
new razorcake issue # 60 from los angeles has a very good interview with the man who´s name you probably dont know (at least myself had no idea) but the records he produced totally love:
Wyn Davis of Total Access recording studio who produced `düs, ´dents, ´vitus, ´men

“After helping to engineer countless classic punk rock records, including a bulk of the SST catalog, Wyn Davis shares some of his most memorable stories.”
