Another regional pearl up your asses! MALINHEADS came from the rather small but forceful Berlin Punk scene and released this EP, the band’s debut, in 1983.
I didn’t realize this so much in the 80s, but today, records like this sound a lot more interesting. The musicianship might not be overwhelmingly good, but still this is very tight and played straightforward. All three tracks totally rage, but the beer & sex anthem “Bex & Sex” is my fave here. Great singer and a great bass sound. The production’s slick and thick, especially for a 1983 record. Reminds me of Sweden’s Unter Den Linden second 7″ a bit.
Pictured is the 2nd cover version. The first one looks better, but I don’t have it.
Thomas from Thought Crime Records out of Berlin has just announced that the official repress of this EP is now ready to be shipped. The first 100 copies come on various colored vinyl. Buy it from the label directly, downloaders!

The second EP is good too, although there’s a lot of people who don’t like it for some reason.

Can’t understand a word except “war games” at the start of the last track, but this kicks ass! Singer reminds me of a harder, raspier Anton from Upright Citizens. Cool post. Got rid of that bad taste from that horrible Pallas shit.

I will graciously read over the last sentence, dewey d.

Weird that such a great record doesn’t get many comments. Too well known – or rather yet, too little known?

I think this record is awesome! Will definitely be picking up the reissue from Thought Crime.

Becks And Sex is a great track but like that Ill Repute LP…..I traded my copy away…..maybe for the Problem LP Swe-kbd gem). Good trade!
Like the Bum Kon 7″ – one great track wasn’t enough to keep it in the heaving wall of vinyl………

It’s a half n halfer for me…just a slight goose pinch (or is that goose step?) forward and it’d be a faux oi-beat classique. But one mile below the already mid-paced velocity they display here, they’d just clunk along back into obscurity.
But one can’t deny this is THOROUGHLY “punk”.
I’m still waiting for you to up that demo you did as a kid with Thomas and the typewriter…C’MON man! I’ll up my very first band from when I was 18…it can be a bad BAD music badass badoff!

Very finnish-sounding. Not too good…

Still have a copy with a skip I got from Vinyl Boogie in Berlin a hundred years ago. Back then you could send them the dough and a week and a 1/2 later your records in the mail!

PS: I’m glad you posted this btw as I can now enjoy it without the skip! Though I think the ‘skip edition’ might be a collectors item ;=). Maybe not.
