Ah memories! Recorded in the concrete basement of the Metropole at a ridiculous volume on my old Tascam series 70 1/2″ 4 track that recorded so much early Victoria punk. The nice bass tone is because for some reason the boys (sans Spud) insisted that I overdub the bass tracks on top of the original; I can’t remember why (probably because the bass was on the drum tracks and wasn’t loud enough; I don’t think it was because of any failings in Spud’s bass playing even though, yes, we were all pretty gooned). The furnace room there had a tiny drain in the corner that doubled as a urinal; handy (if you were a guy that is). I remember being unable to monitor anything because of the volume in this tiny room so I basicaly recorded it visually by watching the VU meters. The things we do for “art”…

Both “Let’s Go Rape…” and “Whiter Than Hitler” appeared coupled as a hidden bonus track on the 1997 version of the “Feed us…” CD on God Records (but not on the original Fringe CD). “Let’s Go Rape” is titled “Rape, Kill” on it, though. The versions are the same except they were remixed, less reverb, more guitar. Now i know where they came from ! Thanks a lot Erich !

Wow! Nice to see all this info rolling in. I’ve never seen the BYO comp before and I’ve been doing the records store thing in Victoria for 24+ years…you learn something new every day. Which tunes were on that? As for the posting of it…I never had any instructions that it was for my ears only when I got it from Scott so I’m totally cool with it personally not that it’s mine to say so. About the Infest…I’m just giving you a hard time Erich. I sent you money years ago for copies of the Stikky-”Cuddle” EP to sell in the store, but you were out of them by the time you got the money so you said you’d send me the Infest- “Slave” when it was done instead…never did see it though. In my laziness I never did pursue it so my loss. I ordered the special edition of the Fear of God- “Zeitgeist” vinyl from you many years later sending you cash for that too so obviously there’s no hard feelings. I’m just giving you the gears. That’s what I love about the blog: Almost every gets solved! Thanks much Niels. I think I have or used to have that tape. I recently read something about it on the net; it’s pretty hard to come by.
