HEADCLEANERS- The Infection grows 7″EP (Xcentric Noise R.A.T.S., UK, 1983)

headcleaners_frontheadcleaners_backheadcleaners_insert1headcleaners_insert2Some records are almost too good to be posted just like that. This is one of them. HEADCLEANERS last 7″ and the band’s high point. I doubt that there’s ever been such an effective use of double-vocals. A bit on the sloppy side, drumwise (weird – I used to think they were soooo tight!), but everything is just perfect the way it is. Oostralia’s RUPTURE did a phantastic job with their cover of “With Medication”, by the way. I don’t know of any other HEADCLEANERS covers right now. Make sure you check out the split post of the mighty HUVUDTVÄTTS/ PICNIC BOYS split EP.
Outstanding, essential – and almost too good to post! Oh yes, and a Pushead cover, haha.

Good but I do favour The Picnic Boys split. That can have something to do with nostalgia or not. Dunno? Essential by the way, essential!!!!

  7. Have a hard time choosing which I favor most of the Headcleaners/Huvudtvatt recordings. This is rawer and in a way better then the split with Picnic Boys. But I love the swedish lyrics. I wonder if it’s not my old friend Staffan Fagerberg(little brother to our bass player in Raped T.) who plays the drums here. Sounds like him and I know he plays on the Headcleaners track they did with Kurt i kuvos. Anyway a great blast here!

Their entire discography finds favor with me…though oddly I find this particular recording the sloppiest. The split LP with Kurt I Kuvos is HEADCRUSHING (my fave absolutely from them)! But yeah, it was because of Rupture right when Righteous Fuck came out that I first got to know the band.

I’m also a BIG Massmedia fan Erich…HINT HINT!!!

Admit it Erich, you were “with medication” when you typed this up, because the spellcheck is as sloppy as the drums!!!

Probably my favourite Headcleaners stuff. I think the “sloppiness” actually adds to the music rather than detracts.

Classic! Didn’t know the cover “art” was re-used for the “Beating The Meat” comp, though (or is it viceversa?) . Too bad I decided against buying a copy of the KIK/Headcleaners (Huvudtvatt) split back in the day… Had it for distribution, taped it and sold all the copies.

i sometimes find it hard to believe ! sometimes think its funny ! and sometimes think ” Did I really ruin pusheads artwork in the punk rock re-design ” ? . . it kinda gave a cut and paste feel to what was one of his wonderful drawings that came from an enthusiastic and talented artist ! yup . . those were the days . . Headcleaners rocked :)

how much for an original pushead :-?

Greetings shesk! Glad to know you’re still kickin around. I still have the ‘raw war’ and ‘grevious musical harm’ tapes, but only one of them still works. I hold no grudges as cassettes were not much better than 8-track tapes really imo. I used to have this ep but I traded it along with many other records I wish I had back. All the best.

Btw I think your releases had the best of Pusheads art on them and if you modified any it was for the better I’m sure.

  1. [...] One of the most original Hardcore bands and quite possibly Sweden’s best were HEADCLEANERS (or HUVUDTVÄTT). Don’t believe me? Here’s the split EP with PICNIC BOYS and here’s the final, monstrous EP. [...]
