I bought this in late 1984 and thought it was great! I saw Battalion of Saints in January of 1985 and they were so good that I went out and bought the Second Coming LP the next day, as great as an album that is, I was disappointed that it didn’t sound more like this 7″!

I agree with Peter-KBD and others that this version is better than the LP version, and the Second Coming LP is too clean–but it still kicks ass. Had I not heard this 7 inch version or the Fighting Boys EP, I wouldn’t be nitpicking. My Mind’s Diseased—fucking classic!

Hey this is pretty good. The weird thing is that when I was growing up I had this inexplicable prejudice against Taaang records, I think because they put out those awful mighty mighty bosstones records.
Unfortunately I’ve always associated this band with that label and didn’t listen them (or SSD!) until just now. I even skipped the POison IDea releases from Taang! How stupid I was. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways….

Unlike so many others I thought Second Coming was a huge disappointment. Too clean, too sterile. If it sounded like this or the Fighting Boys 12″ it would’ve been my cup of tea.

Hi Erich! I’ve been downloading some great stuff from your blog the last couple of weeks (with shotgun solution probably being my favourite post. what a rager that ep is!) and i just wanted to say thanks for all the awesome bands you’re posting and the effort you put into every release you write about.

I honestly have never been that much into BOS. They’ve got some grat songs but i think it’s their sound in itself that’s their real achievement. BOS (AD) 1996 cd Cuts isn’t bad, by the way. Like four or so songs on that cd is amazing, in my opinion.

Anyways, get better and thanks once more!

Another GREAT 7″ that you are surprised to find is on Mystic. That label was the street sweeper of punk labels- fire off 100 records and I suppose one of them will knock you out. Although I really like this version of Second Coming, I think the LP is perfect the way it is- blazing from start to finish.

One of the first HC 7″ I ever bought and what a fine disk it was. That so-called “best of” put out by Mystic had their 1982 demo on the A-side, which is of similar intensity. Sound quality isn’t that great as I recall but I remember playing the shit out of those songs when it came out.
