SAINT VITUS- Live December 1984 Video Footage

Recently found this absolutely amazing video footage on youtube and thought I had to share. SAINT VITUS opened up for BLACK FLAG in London, Ontario in Canada. Whereas BLACK FLAG had a Henry Rollins who got more and more obsessed with his image (check the videos on youtube) that night, SAINT VITUS play a perfectly tight show with the original singer Scott Reagers. I’ve had this as a bad quality live tape for some time, but the youtube footage has way better sound.
Damn, this makes the other VITUS footage I had recently featured look and sound a bit pale in comparison. Go to this youtube page here and find the complete show chopped up into several pieces (and more goodies!).

Expect more SAINT VITUS soon!

    Supergreat stuff!!!!!

Also hellsongs were pretty good, but I don´t trhink that it sounds like it was made in the 60s. Too newsounding for that.

and now I found out that Hellsongs were swedish, how come I never heard of them?

Pär, you’re right, the songs don’t sound like they were recorded in the 60s. That’s not what I meant. I think Hellsongs are able to bring out a “protest song potential” in these songs. And that’s quite impressive, I think. Thinking around corners.

OK, now I´m with you and I think you are correct. This is the way to make covesongs. Take a song and make something new. Best song, if I get to choose, is The Trooper that has a pretty good lyrics that get really to life here that it doesn´t does when Maiden plays it.

The amazing power of Vitus to make punks headbang! One of the most consistent and most HONEST Heavy Metal bands there ever were. This footage is a treasure.

Also, hello Admin. I love your blog!

I think I’ve seen it before on some blog, but as always, the quality was just too bad. So I think I got your hint hint and response with a nudge nudge.
Problem is: My computer broke down (probably the mainboard is fucked, that’s what the technician said), so I’d have to try to set up the laptop for recording and editing first. Let’s see what the day brings.

It was not uncommon for Vitus to play gigs with the likes of fellow SST-ers like Flag, Descendents, Minutemen and Husker Du. One time, in fact, they were all on the same bill! Saw these dudes many times back in the day in the Redondo, Torrance area of LA. The Tom’s Thirsty Club bar (Thirsty and Miserable 12-inch cover) still stands today — a fab place on Artesia in Redondo!
    Cheers
