DAYGLO ABORTIONS- Live at The Farm, San Francisco, 10/25/1986

dsc04142.jpgThe DAYGLO ABORTIONS, the heaviest Punk band there ever was, recorded live at “The Farm” in San Francisco, when they played with RAW POWER. John (Scharpen) – does this tape come from you, like so many in my live tape collection? Kinda weird to see our trading days from over 20 years ago re-enacted in the not so virtual world, ain’t it, haha.
As you can hear, it’s a raw soundboarding recording. Don’t worry about the missing guitars in the first song – they soon crank ‘em up in the mix. It’s not a very good recording and I have better DAYGLO ABORTIONS stuff here (for instance an insane practice recording from ca. 1983), but I still like this tape cause it’s really raw and wild. Plus I don’t think there’s ever been live Dayglo stuff for download anywhere.
What I really like about this recording is how they alternate songs, fuck around, add intros and all the verbal abuse. “Religious Bumfucks” comes in so surprisingly after the odd rock intro. And “Scared of People” and how it turns into “Acting like Black Sabbath” and goes on to “Paranoid” (Black Sabbath) and from there back to “Acting like Black Sabbath” at the end of the tape hits damn hard. Awesome! And the final song is one that hasn’t been recorded (until not until 1986) and is a fucking burner!! Anybody knows if this is on one of the band’s post-”Feed U.S.A. Fetus” albums and what the title is?
I have never seen the DA live unfortunately, but everybody who has says they (still?) rip shit up.

46 min of fun. 128 kb/s rip. Limited time offer!

Expired, Punk.

  4. It could be from me – I really can’t remember. I think I was probably at the show though – I can remember seeing both Dayglo Abortions and Raw Power, but for some reason can’t remember seeing them together. hmmm… I do have a lot of soundboard recordings from the Farm, and I remember that most of them were poorly mixed – I have a BGK one where the vocals come out of one speaker, and everything else comes out of the other. Funny. By the Way, the Farm hasn’t existed for nearly 20 years now. It was fun while it lasted. My vote for the best farm show (of the ones I saw) was when Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers, BGK, and MDC played the same bill.

    I was at this show.
I’m wondering if this guy John you traded with is the same guy I met at a show there, and later traded two shows with him. One of them was the bunk Discharge tour where they got booed off the stage, and had a garbage can full of crap thrown on them. They left the stage in tears… seriously.

I think I saw DISCHARGE getting booed of the stage at the Ruthie’s Inn. If I’m not mistaken, Cro-Mags, No Mercy and Blast played with them.
Maybe John remembers this, I think we went there with him.

  9. I know I saw Raw Power at Ruthie’s Inn, and much later at Gilman st. – I don’t think I ever saw them at The Farm. I was just talking with a friend earlier today about the infamous Discharge garbage can show. I remember it pretty well, as Discharge were so unbelievably bad. I always wondered who it was who threw the garbage can – now I know. Thanks Nate (I’m not sure if I know/knew you – I’ll take a look at your site and see if I can figure it out). By the way, the CCM show is available on an official video tape (probably kind of hard to track down these days).

Holy Shit!! I dont beleive it!!!
I can remember this show like it was yesterday-it was my 14th Birthday….The Bill was as follows….DRI, Verbal Abuse, Raw Power, Day Glo’s, Attitude Adjustment, Nightmare….Oct 25th….BGK was supposed to play but opted to play the night before because they thought DRI and Verbal Abuse “were too Metal”….Haha! Scotty (VA) and Felix (DRI) jumped on stage during their set and started whipping ass!!! What a show!!!

  22. Oh Man, I am trembling with excitement about the opportunity to obtain this recording {As I’ve never seen a Live recording of the DayGlo’s ANYWHERE). However, I don’t seem to be able to gete it for some reason. Any chance of a re-post or something, for an admitted “late arriver” to your page and uploads.

I have bookmarked ya now and plan to visit frequently now that I have discovered this site.

A little help please for an “Old School” fan, who just found ya!

Thanks for reading and hopefully helping me out !

The last time I saw Dayglos was at The Farm in August of ’87 with D.I. I was also at that Discharge show. It was Discharge, D.R.I., Possessed, and Attitude Adjustment (the Bad Brains/D.R.I. show was in Dec. of that year.) That was my first realization that things were definitely going heavy metal and that there were 2 different metal factions.
Possessed had eggs thrown at them (with contact) during their set and Discharge basically got booed off the stage by the thrash metalheads who thought they were too glam. I also was laughing at Discharge’s antics. The guitarist came out wearing a fedora and playing a pink guitar and Cal was prancing around stage with spandex pants. I was just coming back in from the lobby when I saw the trash can hit the bass drum and they left the stage. Kontos of A.A. tried to calm the crowd but the show was over, thankfully.
