I love the way “I’ve got mine” starts out a Clash-type punky reggae tune, then suddenly switches into breakneck speed hc. My fave AOF track back then was the first track on the P.E.A.C.E. comp, “Up against a wall”; the drumming on there’s just incredible, the touchstone on which all other HC drumming should be judged. Funny how, when metal bands got to playing at HC speed, they completely ignored the syncopation drummers like Virus X or Jeff Nelson put into it; it was all “thumpa thumpa” after that.

AOF have always been one of my all time faves. Have a loooong interview lying around somewhere with Virus X. Time to dig it up and post it maybe since I never published it. And Virus X was one hell of a talented drummer that had a total unique style. A big inspiration.

Buy This Was and I’ve Got Mine is one of their best moments in my boo.
