I had a Heavy Metal girlfriend that gave me this book in 1984. She told me,”It’s got a lotta those New Wave faggots in it – YOU’ll like it…” She got it off her Satany-Stoner older brother…and the guy who ended up bein my Best Friend all thru those Hardcore days had an uncle that did alotta work on it – he’d always tell me (as if it were th 1st time),”NO WAY – My uncle did that book!!” I had a choice to make w/ that chick: go to her b-day par-tay w/ all her lame headbanger girlfriends hangin round coppin attitude at me n causin me major discomfiture, or go to My First Punk Show (FINALLY) w/ my crazy Irish friend, Jay th’ Mick, in Sacramento. Needless to say, I did the gig, and it changed/saved my life…came out all bloodied up an’ sweat-soaked, flyin’ on an Adrenalin Overdose, and when I got home I stared at that book and listened to a SOCIAL UNREST ,CAUSE FOR ALARM and BATTALION OF SAINTS tape I had over and over and over again and again for the next (last) 25 years! Hell, I think Im gonna put that shit on right now…somebody mentioned that B.O.S. 7″

Ya, Pushead is the pensive guy in the back who kind of looks like a lurker. My first thought was also that he’s rolling a joint. Rockin’ Jeff Bale is the guy in the middle with his arms out and the late Tim Yo is to the right of him. Ruth Schwartz, later of Mordam Records, is sitting down in the front right corner of the picture. But who’s the guy in the front with the thick nerdy glasses on?
