KFC- Kriminalpogo 7" (D.P. A-5498, Germany, 1980)
Repost from August 1st 2006. I keep getting so many requests to upload this again – so here we go!
Porno-Pop, it says on the label and indeed it was the porn-approach that made this one of the most controversial Punk releases from Germany. Due to the backcover art (which for todays standards seems rather dull), KFC had gotten a lot of shit, as it seems (read: “Verschwende Deine Jugend”, dunno if this has yet been translated. Read it as the german answer to “Please kill me”).
“Kriminal Pogo” which is featured here, is however one of the best songs from the 1980s that I have ever heard! It’s simple, catchy and very tight (listen to the bass- and drumsound – AWESOME!!) and it has a drive that is almost brutal in its relentlessness. The flip, “Sexmörder”, is great too, though it reaches only 90% of the greatness of the A-side.
KFC (Kriminalitäts-Förderungs-Club – “Criminality encouragement club”, hahaha) had a couple of other releases from which the first LP “Letzte Hoffnung” stands out. It’s, unlike this gem here, a very dark and melancholic epic and definitely a must-have! The tracks on “In die Zukunft” are nice too.
