KFC- Kriminalpogo 7" (D.P. A-5498, Germany, 1980)

Repost from August 1st 2006. I keep getting so many requests to upload this again – so here we go!

Porno-Pop, it says on the label and indeed it was the porn-approach that made this one of the most controversial Punk releases from Germany. Due to the backcover art (which for todays standards seems rather dull), KFC had gotten a lot of shit, as it seems (read: “Verschwende Deine Jugend”, dunno if this has yet been translated. Read it as the german answer to “Please kill me”).

“Kriminal Pogo” which is featured here, is however one of the best songs from the 1980s that I have ever heard! It’s simple, catchy and very tight (listen to the bass- and drumsound – AWESOME!!) and it has a drive that is almost brutal in its relentlessness. The flip, “Sexmörder”, is great too, though it reaches only 90% of the greatness of the A-side.
KFC (Kriminalitätsförderungs-Club – “Criminality encouragement club”, hahaha) had a couple of other releases from which the first LP “Letzte Hoffnung” stands out. It’s, unlike this gem here, a very dark and melancholic epic and definitely a must-have! The tracks on “In die Zukunft” are nice too.

PS: These rips were made with my old equipment. You will notice the difference, unfortunately.

Someone taped me “Kriminalpogo” years ago and I have been hooked on it ever since. The bass playing in that tune is some of the best I’ve ever heard on a punk record. “Sexmorder” and all of the other KFC songs I’ve heard since just cannot match up to the greatness of “Kriminalpogo”.

it is really nice to see your desire to re-post some of the big tunes from the previous posts. Hey, PLEASE re-post again these: Dieter Meier, Middle Class, TNT, Nuclear Sockets, Neon Hearts, Generics and VA Rapters !!!!! It is an incredibly rare shit, and I am on the verge of dying. Please re-post this.

  7. OK, now I have finally listen to the 7″ and I must say that I don´t likte this as much as the LP. OK it´s good punk but the LP has grown to be massive. This might do so as well but I doubt that it´ll reach the hights of the LP. And I don´t like porn.
