cover scans currently down The least known of the three VATICAN COMMANDOS releases – and easily the best! “Point me to the End”, “What can you do” and the stuttering poem “What a Day” are the standouts here, but the whole record has one helluva gloomy atmosphere. This needs to be reissued badly!
The VATICAN COMMANDOS formed in Connecticut in 1982, had their first 7″, “Hit Squad for God” in 1983, followed by “Just a Frisbee” the same year. V.C. were also on the “Big City”, “Method to our Madness”, “Connecticut Fun” comp Lps (and maybe more) and that nifty “Make it work” 7″ comp, plus a tape comp of which I forgot the title.
Yepp, we all know it by now – the band’s guitarist went on to become a superstar under the name of Moby.
I used to have a very nice original V.C. T-Shirt I bought in San Francisco, but I can’t find it anymore.
And on a side note: I think I’ve never heard a record with so much background noise before. Not that it would be popping and clicking – there’s a strange kinda vibrating noise coming from the vinyl, I think. Weird. Guess it was a cheap mastering and / or pressing.

I think you were thinking of the BCT – First Strike comp tape. Which is an excellent compilation.

Yeah, Pyrophorus – that’s the one I meant! Just checked the songs on the tape – kinda cool, might rip them later.

This is Chip Moody who played drums for Vatican Commandos and you didn’t ask us for permission to post this on your blog. This record along with Hitsquad For God, Just A Frisbee and live and unreleased studio tracks are all being reissued. Thanks for taking food from my kid’s plate!!!

you should have reissued it when moby was popular, you might have sold more.
[Reply]
that’s a joke. there’s never been an official cd reissue.

wow, i never owned this, but i used to do the “punk rock show” at klsu in baton rouge in the early/mid 80′s, and the station had it. used to play stuff from it all the time (i had hit squad myself). my thanks. chip moody. go screw yourself..(p.s. how the fuck was he supposed to ask permission anyway?)

Since any idiot can claim to be somebody he’s not: Get in touch with me (“About me”, on the right side). I will of course take it down if band members want me to do so.

Anyway Chip Moody didn`play Drums on this record – that was a guy named David. On the Backcover iot is said that Chip Moody only plaed drums on “Point me to the end”

Yepp, anonymous, you’re totally right. “Thanks for taking the food of my kids plate” made me laugh all day, btw.

well i dunno, perhaps if you would bother to listen to it a few more times but for me this was notreally my cup of beer, kind of dry actually, so to speak. its hardly death ss is it? he he…

Been trying to find my own copy of this for years so thank you very much! Not what I would call essential listening but a nice piece of nostalgia. The alleged “Chip” is probably another MXV clone planning a useless re-issue or a would-be bootlegger looking for an easy release. Most bootleggers are guys with legit labels BTW. This thing is right where a 20+ years out-of-print record belongs–on the web for free!!

big thanks, always enjoyed what a day on the radio back in 84

Punk not Profit – I don’t like your site at all. Posting masses of records you probably don’t even anything to say about is not my idea of blogging.

If you’re eager to communicate with me you have my email address. Why clutter up this blog with your retarded comments?
In the end I hope that you get hold of a good shrink that can help to sort out your problems.
If I knew how to ban Mike via the blogspot.com thing I would help you Erich. Move over to WordPress

I have this EP. Bought it, I think, when I saw the VCs at UConn in ’85. Good stuff.

Holy fuck, this is great. My dad’s band was on a comp with these guys as well as some of CT’s other greatest hardcore bands (Lost Gen, 76%Uncertain, No Milk On Tuesday). Good band, good stuff.
