Some real honesty from the crypto fascists. Metal Mike at least had some musical talent which found itself in a dead end with this group.

Rodney originally had 4 hours a week to spin records and they begrudged him that time.

There were other specialty shows on L.A. radio, like Dr Demento's on the mighty MET, KMET.

But you could not stand the fact that this little pip squeak of a man built his own audience on what was in 1976 a totally dysfunctional radio station with under the radar ratings.

You guys NEVER had the guts to get in _my_ face during the 5 years (1977-82) I hung out in Hollywood.

Instead you issued "humorous" death threats against Rodney that he failed to see the humor in.

And, yes, Rodney should have resisted the temptation to make a record. You could say the same for 99.9% of all records released. Fortunately, I never released my version of "Brandy" but it's out there somewhere on a cassette!

Some of the comments about Rodney are paritially true. [sorry, but I had to censor this. Don't wanna start some sort of a witchhunt and spread hearsay. hope you understand. admin]
I hope others will defend me on this because I'm not making it up.

The Angry Samoans' anti-Rodney song "Get Off The Air" had nothing to do with Rodney not giving us airplay... we had no recorded product besides a demo tape at the time it was written... it was a product of the horror, the sheer horror, of his four-hour long 1978 Christmas Eve Phil Spector rampage. ("It's Christmas Eve, what d'you got? Four hours of Phil Spector rot!")

The Kessel Brothers were with him, and they were supposed to play our friends' (Tremors) single "Tonight's My Night" (the Kessels had produced it), so we listened to the whole damn show. It was to puke... I'd never before realized just HOW BAD Spector could be, and HOW LITTLE TASTE Rodney really had.

I didn't write "Get Off The Air", but I was happy to play it!

Haha, great post. Don't have this one, but I did post his "I Hate the 90s" 7" at Used Bin Forever a month or so ago. Thurston Moore played on the record as well.
