This is not the INSULTS, it’s THE INSULTS from Michigan / Spain. The band was actually not meant to be taken too serious, still this 7″ is a nice piece of metalfree full blast dyslexic HC. Only 300 copies were made, and the cover is handglued and looks very nice. Although this 7″ is surely not earth shattering, I still like it for it’s fast parts and the general not-so-serious aura.
Shortly after this, the boys got together again and recorded and helluva nice LP – JIM JONES AND THE KOOL-ADE KIDS’ “Trust me …” was totally different from this, metallic sludge with simple but highly enjoyable double bass hammering throughout and some very nice downtuned heavyness. That LP too is hard to come by but not too much in demand, I guess. It was re-released on a CD put out by my ex-label mate and also included the (unheard by me) unreleased 2nd LP.

I’ve never seen the original cover for this one, just the Reagan Era bootleg. I see the middle finger is consistent on both releases, can’t go wrong there. I like hearing the original next to a bootleg to see if there’s a difference, thanks.

what ?!? …not earth shattering…
maybe it’s because i was raised in ’84/’85 under the stalinist Larm-regime with it’s ‘faster=better’ banner.
playing the insults-files i relived my youth: jumping around in my upstairs bedroom. it was one of the first records i bought. i’d say it’s up there together with stark raving mad.
[any chance you were holding their MX-12" last 60 minutes?]
THANKS A LOT

Hope you all takes this as an insult(ha ha ha): this is SO GREAT!! Not generic at all. Totally son of a blast mayhem hardcore that changed my life the first minute I heard it.

These last few days I’ve been listening a lot to Jim Jones And The Kool-Ade Kids so I’m gonna check this one out. Too bad that I arrived too late for the cover pics.

Yesssssss.
Great stuff, just the kind of punk I love. Amazing. I really owe you for making me discover such great ones, so I will forget the fact that you will never review my demo, hehe.

I live in west MI close to the home of the INSULTS. I am doing a offical repress if the THRASHER GO HOME ep. It’s part of a Michigan classic’s we are doing. BORN WITHOUT A FACE disc. 12″ gatefold in the pressing out early nov. 82-86 this band was around from that time period. Some cool stuff we are working on for sure.

I kind of liked this, even though I think you’re right, “surely not earth shattering”. The fact that you have brought something out of obscurity at only 300 copies makes it stand out a little bit. I guess too, how I jusdge a band good, is if I wouldn’t mind paying to see them live. Thanx Erich

erich, could you reload the scans to this ep, because i’m making my friend a compilation cd and i can’t find these scans anywhere else on the net.
