THE NITWITZ- Scorched Earth Policy 12"EP (Vögelspin Records, Holland, 1982)

Before there was B.G.K., there was THE NITWITZ. In my opinion, the band’s best releases are this 12er and the Split LP with GÖTTERFLIES (check this). forget about the two 7″s, they’re very weak and boring. The tracks on the first “Als je haar maar goed Zit” comp LP are great too – the whole comp is amazing. Somebody (who? who?) has to post this soon! Niels doesn’t seem to like the sound of this 12″ (see link above), but I find it quite good with a catchy, nearly non-distorted guitar sound.. Not everything on “Scorched Earth Policy” is great, but especially the A-side smokes. Fave songs here would be the instant-hit “Jet Set”, “Movie Screeens” and “Horrorshow”. Worst are the music critics lamento “Who are you” and “Perfect Girl”.

I couldn’t tell you that much more about NITWITZ but I could about B.G.K. whose ex-drummer now lives in Zurich and plays in a horrible band (same with some ex-MORZELPRONK member).

PS: “Scorched Earth Policy” was recorded in November and December 1981, so I guess it’s safe to say it wasn’t released until 1982 (unlike many discographies saying it came out in 81).

Scorch some earth!

Vielleicht macht er jetzt was anderes, haha.

My blog has a name, you know! Just kidding… I see you linked to my Nitwitz post of a couple of months ago; I’ll re-link the mp3s a.s.a.p.! I’m also glad to announce that as of my next post you won’t get any “file not available” shit anymore (your post about the quality of mp3 blogs made me feel guilty, ha ha…)
