As if I needed to have more proof for the righteousness of my ungodliness! Just when I was ripping HUGH BEAUMONT EXPERIENCE‘s “Cone Johneson” 7″EP for Good Bad Music, my cheap ass recording interface broke down. Recording quality had suffered more and more over the last few days so it wasn’t really surprising.
It sucks the big one however because before I can continue my little shit blog, I will first have to have a new USB- or Firewire interface. These things are rather expensive so I’m afraid it might take a while before I can afford one. As always, the Donations-button is there for those who want to help out.
Quote of the moment:
«What strikes me is the fact that in our society, art has become something which is related only to objects and not to individuals, or to life. That art is something which is specialized or which is done by experts who are artists. But couldn't everyone's life become a work of art? Why should the lamp or the house be an art object, but not our life?» (Michel Foucault)On heavy rotation:
An album full of diamonds and diamonds.Movie of the moment:
«Midnight in Paris» is not only the best Woody Allen movie in quite some time (although I must say that I loved «Matchpoint» for its cold bourgeois-brutality) – it can also be seen as a witty comment on the current retro-trend. And it's pure cinematic joy!Book of the moment:
It's a paradox: Blogs like this one disenchant the music that enchants their makers. The obscure, the magic, the mystery that was an integral part of popular music until a few years ago, has now been shattered completely. The internet and all its effect has torn down the boundary that used to separate the past from the present in the cultural production: Everything is only a few mouseclicks away, from music to art, fashion, design - you name it. The downside: Popular culture finally eats itself, is obsessed with its own past and thus creates nothing new. This is one of the main thesis of renowned music journalist Simon Reynolds' in his excellent book «Retromania. Pop culture's addiction to its own past». Reynold goes one step further and makes an interesting point saying that Punk itself was a reactionary cultural movement, dreaming of a world "without the Sgt Peppers album". A sometimes pretty academic, well written, resourceful and very much recommended book!Blogroll

For one who’ll only record vinyl and cassetes. Wich one is the best to go with? What equipment did you use Erich? Myself simply plug a cable into my old Soundblaser soundcard. Guess it will make a big difference to have an M-Audio?
[Reply]
THANKS MUCH AGAIN JASON! I followed your advise and just bought me an M-Audio Audiophile interface (where I live, the exact same thing costs TWICE AS MUCH!!).
Expect the Blog to be back on track with improved audio quality within the next 7 days ca.
[Reply]
You guysd ought to realize that using those little 1/8″ connections is not going to give the sound that even a regular size RCA would.
1.Use Decent Cabling
2.Try not to use the soundcard in the computer (PCI)there is noise from the motherboard and internal electronics.
3.try to use 1/4″ or RCA size wiring.
the better the wiring the better the sound.Audio needs a good size cable to be able to freely move all the bandwidth possible.

Hope you’ll get this machine soon – I’m dying to hear new good bad music!! Best blog at the moment!
Do you still need $$$?
[Reply]
Let’s put it this way: Donations are always welcome and even they would increase remarkably in number, they’d still not be covering the expenses of such a blog (no, I’m not talking about the necessities of wine, cigarettes and coke).
[Reply]
The fuckers still haven’t shipped out the interface I bought 3 days ago. No wonder the U.S. economy is so weak.
[Reply]
Now it has been shipped.
Suggestions for the next post?
Fuck, I’m excited to get this machine!!
[Reply]
suggestion: something europeeing
[Reply]
I don’t categorize music in european and non-european, sorry. it’s good and bad and good bad and bad bad. be more specific!
the interface is now at the customs and will hopefully soon be deliverd!
