Another band time forgot. Strange enough that CAPITOL PUNISHMENT didn’t get very popular especially in the USA. Were they too “old” for being on the boyscout-trip? We don’t know. In Germany, they got a bit of acclamation though and all their releases were either repressed or exclusively pressed in krautland (this 7″ here like most of the follow-ups on “We Bite”. It came on white vinyl). In 1987 they even toured Europe , shame on me, I was too lazy to go. Eye witnesses swear CAPITOL PUNISHMENT were in one league with FANG who had toured a little earlier and made me bang my head.
This was CAPITOL PUNISHMENT’s first release after a few compilation appearances here and there. The a-side is very good, yet stays pretty much within the narrow boundaries of the genre, even though the band’s tightness and the singer are above average. The b-side is another story. But hear for yourself:

Very interesting second track. Soemtimes these slower tracks stand out and turn into favourites. Take Jerry’s Kids, I loved their faster tracks, but my favourite was “Raise the Curtain”.

I couldn’t agree more with you Pogel! “Raise the Curtain” is a destroyer of a track, but I remember when the LP came out, for me it was “Crucify me”. It’s a great song, but in retrospect, “Curtain” has so much more to offer.
Exception of the rule: “How much art” by SSD.

I saw CP togheter with Rythm Pigs in Copenhagen in 1987. They we’re fun to look act cause of their oldness. But I got tired of them pretty quick. Killer Cop is ok but they’ve done better stuf.

You’re right Peter – the two LPs are killer, especially the first one and the demo 7″ too. but to me, “jody” is the standout track.

I’ve got the live video on We Bite records with them, Emils and Suckspeed. Good stuff from them, and yes they look pretty old
