Happy Squid Records, famous for being URINALS own label (the label is back in business – just follow this link), released this nifty little comp in 1980. The a-side is clearly dominated by URINALS and VIDIOTS (feat. Rik L Rik), but DANNY AND THE DOOR KNOBS deliver a great song too, much in the vein of the later URINALS, if you ask me. ARROW BOOK CLUB is arty post-punk though of the enjoyable sort – the organ does it! And PHIL BEDEL’s major achievement is that he knew how to keep things short. Oddly enough, the whole 7″ was a split release, so on the flip, you have NEEF. Well, it’s one poststructuralistic big band cacaphony; kinda boring.
So here you get the four best bands & songs from this rare release (500 numbered copies only). I haven’t compared VIDIOTS’ track to the one on “Rodney on ROQ”, could be the same, could be different.
Go!
